There’s something deeply meaningful about being recognized for work you pour your heart, mind, time, and treasure$$ into. We’re incredibly humbled and grateful to share some wonderful news on International Podcast Day (September 30):
Belonging to Blackness has won TWO honors at the 2026 Black Podcasting Awards: Best Interviewer and Best Longtime Podcast. Sincere THANK YOU to Black Podcasting Awards judges, VIP Candidate voters, and team.
For the last eight years, the podcast Belonging to Blackness has endeavored to be a platform for sharing thoughtful, challenging, and illuminating conversations about Black identity, culture, history, belonging, and the many experiences that shape Black life across the globe. These awards are meaningful not simply because they recognize the podcast, but because they affirm the importance of continuing to make space for these stories and conversations.
And the recognition continues. Belonging to Blackness has also received its third consecutive nomination for the 2026 Signal Awards in the category of Curators Shaping Culture, following our wins in this same category in 2024 and 2025. It is currently listed for a 2026 Listener’s Choice Award, too. Voting is open through October 15 2026. Click VOTE NOW
We are profoundly grateful to everyone who has helped make this journey possible. Special thanks to the Belonging to Blackness team, whose creativity, commitment, and behind-the-scenes work keep this project moving forward—and especially to my co-producer and editor Masauko Chipembere, whose partnership has been invaluable; and our sponsors, including Give Black Alliance.
And to everyone who continues to listen, share an episode, recommend the show, send a note, show up for a conversation, or cast a vote when awards season rolls around: THANK YOU. Your support allows us to keep doing the work.
Indeed, we kicked off Season 8 a few weeks ago to a fantastic start but we’re also feeling hopeful and a little excited about what’s still to come. Thank you for belonging to this community with us.
Peace and blessings,
Dr. Yndia & the Belonging to Blackness, LLC team
