We’re thrilled to announce that Belonging to Blackness, our public humanities project (which includes the podcast + forthcoming book), has been awarded the Silver Medal at the 2026 6th Annual Anthem Awards for Social Impact in the category of Education, Arts & Culture: Content & Media (Podcast Show)!

Even more exciting, this year's Anthem Awards winners include an extraordinary lineup of influential voices, organizations, and global brands, including Jay Shetty, WNBA star Nneka Ogwumike, Seth and Lauren Rogen, Doctors Without Borders, AARP, Sesame Street, and the LEGO Group. We're honored to have Belonging to Blackness recognized among such an inspiring group of change-makers using their platforms to make a difference.

Launched by The Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards recognize impactful brands, nonprofits, and individuals setting the standard for social good worldwide. The Webby Awards, hailed by The New York Times as the “Internet’s highest honor,” celebrate excellence across the digital landscape, including websites, film, social media, podcasts, games, and more.

This recognition is especially meaningful because Belonging to Blackness was created to spark thoughtful conversations about the complexities of Black identity, ancestry, culture, and belonging. Through storytelling, scholarship, and conversations with artists, scholars, activists, and cultural innovators, we continue to challenge conventional narratives and expand how we understand what it means to belong to Blackness.

A heartfelt thank you to the Anthem Awards judges for this recognition; to my collaborators, including Masauko Chipembere, to our sponsors, including Give Black Alliance. And, of course, to our listeners, podcast guests, readers, and supporters: your engagement, curiosity, and commitment make this project possible.

This Silver Medal belongs to all of us! Here's to continuing to amplify global African descended voices, challenge boundaries, and remind the world that Blackness is more than skin deep.

Peace and blessings,
Dr. Yndia & the Belonging to Blackness, LLC team
