The month of February often centers romantic love but it is also Black History Month #BHM365, a time when we honor the beauty, resilience, brilliance, and liberation of African descended people across generations. In that spirit, we also celebrate Black Love. Mind you, Black Love is bigger than romance. It is a practice of freedom: to survive, thrive, heal, and imagine the possibilities of beautiful futures for our communities.
Black Love emphasizes the importance of repairing harm and (re)building trust. Especially in the current state of our world today, it becomes an intentional act of advocating for social justice, practicing consent, and nurturing relationships where safety and respect are non-negotiable. Black Love shows up in how we listen to one another, how we protect our most vulnerable, and how we hold space for personal growth without shame.
To honor Black Love also means affirming something long denied to African descended people—pleasure. Black pleasure is not frivolous or excessive; it is sacred, healing, grounding, and worthy of protection. Pleasure reconnects us to our bodies, our desires, and our right to experience joy without punishment. When rooted in consent and care, pleasure becomes a powerful counter to histories of exploitation, subjugation, and control. It reminds us that liberation must also feel good.
Aligned with honoring and embracing Black Love in its fullness, we are excited to share our forthcoming podcast episode 64 with Hasan Salaam (also known as King Noire), social justice activist, sex educator, writer, and international Hip Hop artist, debuting on February 17, 2026.
The episode explores Black Love as a liberatory practice by examining advocacy, consent, and pleasure as essential tools for healing ourselves and our communities. The conversation invites listeners to reimagine Black Love as a force that transforms how we relate in the bedroom and in our communities, allowing us to live joyfully out loud.
For this year’s #BHM365, Black Love shows up as the revolution: unapologetic healing, full liberation, and with pleasure at the center. Are you ready?
