Based on the Dr. Yndia Lorick-Wilmot’s auto-ethnography and historically informed book, Belonging to Blackness: The Complexities of Black Identity and DNA Testing (2025), this digital media project is intended for public audiences to gain insight and understanding of the thinking, philosophy, and practices of belonging as articulated and performed by African descendants (ages 18-75) from across the diaspora and currently living in the Americas.
Because there are many interesting ways to communicate social science research, Belonging to Blackness is accessible to all audiences through video abstracts. These videos highlight the field research process, clips of interviews and “teasers” of major research findings included in Belonging to Blackness: The Complexities of Black Identity and DNA Testing (2025).
